Having heard the two singles, “The Unthinking Majority” and “Empty Walls,” dozens of times on the radio, I knew I wanted to buy this album, even though it’s not my typical music choice and I’m not familiar at all with Tankian’s previous works or SOAD. The songs were catchy, they stayed in my head, and when I actually bothered to take a listen to the lyrics I was surprised and impressed by the complexity and politics. Read more

Dalek: Absence
Filed Under Dalek | Leave a Comment
Dalek plays hip hop unlike any you’ve heard before. This is powerful stuff. Some of these tracks are the most dark and sinister sounding songs I’ve heard in a long time. Its actually heavier than most metal I’ve heard recently and they do this without playing metal guitar riffs. The whole album is great but the 3rd song, Culture for Dollars, is just immense. After listening to this on headphones the beats just seem to stick in my head forever. Read more

Joe Satriani: Engines of Creation
Filed Under Joe Satriani | Leave a Comment
Some may like this, some may hate it. But I say when one puts out a stunning cd as his last effort ‘Crystal Planet’ why should the fans even be put in a position to be in a love/hate relationship with the next one? Some artists evolve w/ the times out of necessesity (KISS), others evolve to show they can, and that is what ‘Engines’ feels like. A try at something that isn’t him. Sure there are good tracks like the opener and of coarse Borg Sex, but the majority of the cd flounders with an incredible boredom. If you like Satch and buy his stuff before you hear it, get ready to change that train of thought after hearing Engines Of [Creation]. Read more

Iced Earth: Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked Pt. 1 ‘Free MP3′
Filed Under Iced Earth | Leave a Comment
While the above trilogy was only an overview, the entire story was written and laid waiting to be told. Now, almost 10 years later, after years of hard work and contemplation, Schaffer has delivered the first part of what could be his magnum opus. “Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Part I)” is the first of two albums weaving a thrilling Sci-Fi tale of mankind s invasion of Earth, the planet occupied by the direct descendents of the Grand Architect of the Universe. These descendents, the Setians, are the Earth’s most ancient culture, and are the wisest, most peaceful race in existence. Read more

Incubus: S.C.I.E.N.C.E. ‘Free MP3′
Filed Under Incubus | Leave a Comment
Incubus is now riding a wave after their Make Yourself album, so they have re-released Fungus Amongus and Science. There is nothing different than the CD, which was previously released, but the CD itself is simply great. Then never rerecorded Calgone, which was cut suddenly four minutes into the track with a speech about who’s fault the cutting of the track was. Mainstream songs in an album before anyone knew about them! Read more

Bloc Party: A Weekeend In The City
Filed Under Bloc Party | Leave a Comment
The follow-up to their smash debut, “Silent Alarm”, is every bit as bright, powerful, and catchy, with the addition of more muscle, attitude, depth, and a bit of polish courtesy of their producer, Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol). Inspired by lead singer Kele Okereke’s interest in what he calls “the living noise of a metropolis”, this record captures every detail of daily life in a modern city from the ebullient to the mundane. From the quiet desolation of commuting to casual sex, from going out on a Friday night to the long ride home early in the morning, these are songs desperate to understand the meaning that pulses under the moments of our every day. Incubus: Morning View ‘Free MP3′

This is such a great CD. I love it from start to finish. Some of my favorites are “Wish You Were Here”, “11 AM”, “Are You In?”, “Warning”, and “Mexico”. This CD to me holds the emotions of anger and sadness, but there is a bit of happiness. The music itself is really good. The songwriting is also so brilliant. I guarantee that you’ll love this CD. It is a really good CD. Read more

Incubus: Make Yourself ‘Free MP3′

The beauty of high school and college is that you get exposed to new ideas. Music is one of the most powerful mediums to get those ideas. Unfortunately we often are subjected to lyricists with no depth who, simply because they have a microphone and a guitar, fancy themselves as the second coming of Bob Dylan. Now that I am approaching my mid-30’s with a family, though the style of music I enjoy hasn’t changed, the content of it has. Read more

Iced Earth: Glorious Burden ‘Free OGG’

However, this album isn’t all bad. The final trilogy, “Gettysburg”, is actually really cool. Totalling at around 30 minutes, it’s a huge 3-part epic, complete with drum corps percussion, flutes, mandolin, and surprisingly tasteful orchestral arrangements. The lyrics are a bit on the cheesy side, and the composition overall is a tad long-winded, but on the whole, it’s really good stuff. The huge choruses are just dynamite (Matt Barlow even contributes some vocals, but not very much) Read more

Fuel: Something Like Human [Free MP3]
Filed Under Fuel | Leave a Comment
Fuel is a band that orginates from alternative rock. Rock beats with their own stylish rythmns. Fuel is like tasting the sweetest watermelon on a red hot day. Songs like Last Time, In My Hands, Bad Day, Innocent and Slow bring out the best that this band has to offer. The CD was enjoyable to listen to and I have listened to it countless times since buying the CD. Read more
